Since many years, in mining environments there is an exchange of opinion about low economic efficiency of mining industry in transformation period in context of very good condition of energetic. Author of article, on base of Statistic Office's data, decided check and verifies this argument. Basing on spectral distribution use by GUS, performed comparison of chosen economic rates of two sectors: hard coal and lignite mining industry; peat mining (called "mining" in this article) and fabrication and provisions to electric power, gas, hot water and steam (called "energetic"). It research especially economic rates from 1994 to 2002: profitable, participation of investment in income, participation of cost presents in income and changes of work capacity. Hard coal and lignite are raw materials for energetic, but its price has fundamental influence on sector yield. Hard coal is sold in three directions: professional energetic, internal market and export. Price rates, especially 2 last direction has great influence on sector yield. Additionally coke coal is sold to cocking plants. Analyses show that mining sector almost all the period has very bad economic rates - main cause is hard coal mining industry. Energetic sector has better economic rates, but not too good (especially from 1998). Gained results, according to author, show that economic rates are caused by wrong economic and macroeconomic policy of Government.
